#MetzFire Burning Thousands of Californian Acres

A wildfire ignited land on Metz Road and Blue Jay Lane, SE of Soledad on May 22, 2016 around 1527 hours PDT. that exploded into an uncontrolled fire consuming everything in its path.

It is also said to be three (3) miles SW of Pinnacles National Park.

Command is personnel from the CALFire San Benito-Monterey Unit.

There are currently 200 Firefighters, 20 Fire Engines, eight (8)  Fire Crews,  two (2) Air Tankers, one (1) Helicopter, two (2) Dozers and (2) Water Tenders assigned to this incident.

Fire suppression units from air to ground have successfully slowed the rate of the fire from moving forward and are making good progress.

The fire is now said to be at 3,876 acres with a 50% containment status.

The cause of this fire has not been determined to be human-caused or by any other means.  It is still under investigation.
