June 13, 2012 – IAFF General President Harold A. Schaitberger has been re-elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the leading policy making body for fire prevention, codes and safety standards.
The NFPA announced the re-election of officers and election of new members to the Board of Directors at its 2012 NFPA Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I am honored to represent an organization as well respected as the NFPA,” says Schaitberger. “For more than 100 years, the NFPA’s work has protected the lives of fire fighters by promoting standards, training and research.”
Schaitberger was a catalyst behind the NFPA’s decision in 2001 to issue NFPA 1710, the standard that sets minimum standards for fire fighter crews, responses times and other factors involved in determining the organization and deployment of fire fighting and emergency medical systems.
