SIT REP: Sunday, August 20, 2023, 1840 hours PDT

INCIDENT SUMMARY. The FLAT FIRE is burning about two miles southeast of Agness, Oregon, which broke out on July 15, 2023.

SIZE UP. The fire has burned about 34,242 acres and there is a 58% containment status.

RESOURCES. There are a total of 497 personnel with 15 engines, 13 crews, three dozers, 16 water tenders, four masticators, and four helicopters.

INCIDENT COOPERATORS. Coos FPA, Flat Fire Information Page, Northern Rockies National IMT, USFS, and the U.S. Department of Interior BLM.

EVACUATIONS. Evacuations are in effect: Level 1 “Get Ready” evacuation status is in place for areas in the vicinity of the Flat Fire. Link to more information: https://tinyurl.com/currycountyem

CLOSURES. U.S. Highway 199 has been closed north of Gasquet due to fires in the Six River National Forest, please use U.S. Route 101 to SR 42s for all travel to and from the Rogue Valley. Forest Service and BLM roads should not be used as alternate routes due to fire activity. The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest (RRSNF) has issued a closure order for the fire area including trails, roads, and a portion of the Illinois River.
