UPDATE 2: Sunday, August 20, 2023, 1425 PT

The forward progression has been stopped at 1239 hours PDT. It is contained with a dozer line and expected to hold with forecasted weather conditions says Spokane’s Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer.

Spokane FD and WA DNR will remain on the scene to continue mopping up the night and throughout the night.

The cause was determined to be related to a transient camp and Fire Investigators are still determining the exact ignition source.

NEW: Sunday, August 20, 2023, 1200 PT

A new wildfire start has been detected on Hwy 195 and Thorpe Road in Spokane (Spokane County), Washington State.

Level 2 evacuations are in effect.
