Incident Summary
The OREGON ROAD FIRE was reported on Friday, August 19, 2023, around 1600 hours PDT and has yet to be determined what the cause is but it is still under investigation. It originated about two-to-four miles northeast of Elk (Spokane County), Washington State.
Current Status
Fire behavior is said to be extreme with crowning, torching, and with long-range spotting. The fire has burned approximately 10,142 acres of grass, crops, and timberlands. It is currently threatening additional homes and power infrastructure.
There has been a reported 10% containment status.

There are currently a total of 13 hand crews, 38 engines, eight dozers, two skid engines, and eight water tenders alongside a total of 463 total personnel.

A Shelter is open at Riverside High School, located at 4120 E. Deer Park Milan Rd., Chattaroy, WA 99003.
Damage Assessment
About 160 structures, according to Inciweb sources have been lost.
The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached a whopping $868,000 Dollars!
