Incident Facts:
- Started: 8/24/2023 2230 PDT.
- Cause: Lightning.
- Location: 10 miles NE of Sandy, Oregon in the Zigzag Ranger District.
- Incident #: OR-MHF-001199.
- IMT: Great Basin IMT Team 1, Evans Kuo (IC)
Current Status: The wildfire has burned 1,226 acres, an increase of 800 acres in the last 24 hours, and is still showing a 0% containment status. Fire behavior remains active with group torching and spotting, which is now threatening public infrastructure.
Resources: Today’s resources include: H-9EV, E-621, E-382, Capt 601, HB-60NW, HT-7CH, Moore, Crew 12, and E-603. About 149 total personnel along with 6 crews, 4 engines, and 2 copters are assisting on this wildfire under the leadership of The Great Basin IMT Team 1 assumed command on Sunday morning.

Operational Update: Great Basin Incident Management Team 1 took command of the fire on Sunday morning, August 27. Firefighters are focusing on full suppression of the fire, using water dropped from helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft to limit its growth. Ground crews will construct indirect containment lines along Forest Roads 12 and 14. Crews on the ground face numerous safety hazards including threats posed by falling fire-weakened trees and travel on narrow winding roads.

Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR): There is a TFR over the fire area and drone use is illegal.
