Monday Fire Update: 9/4/2023 1100 hours PDT

The TYEE RIDGE COMPLEX consists of three wildfires that are located 10 miles west of Sutherlin, Oregon, which were sparked by lightning on August 24, 2023, at 2112 PDT.

The cause of all three wildfires is lightning.

The fire is in Unified Command with:

  • ODF IC: Joe Hessel
  • OSFM IC: Ian Yocum

Collectively, the total complex of burned acres is 7,2574 and has an overall 28% containment status. The estimated containment date has been slated for September 30, 2023.

Overall, there are a total of 1,746 personnel with 66 crews, 78 engines, and 12 helicopters are still assigned to this wildfire incident.

Chilcoot Fire: The CHILCOOT FIRE is located 21 miles NE of Glide, Oregon. Minimal fire behavior has been observed with backing, creeping, and smoldering. Communication infrastructure is threatened. About 1,762 acres have been burned. There is a 4% containment status for this fire alone. About $6.5 Million CTD.

Ridge Fire: The RIDGE FIRE is located 34 miles east of Glide, where timber and brush have been burned, leaving about 238 acres destroyed. It has a 45% contained statement. About $390,000 has been reached for the cost of fire suppression and containment efforts. It too, has seen minimal fire activity with backing, creeping, and smoldering.

Grizzly Fire: This fire is located about 11 miles southwest of Oakridge, Oregon. The minimal fire behavior has been observed along with its counterparts. At this time, the fire continues to threaten structures and communication infrastructure. Some rain was received over the fireline yesterday. About 100 acres have been burned. The CTD has reached $391,000.
