SPOKANE COUNTY, WASHINGTON — Fire Officials with the Spokane County Fire District #3 are hiring Career Firefighters and their announcement is due to close in about seven days.

A joint training took place during a three-day live-fire multi-company operational period, where Spokane County Fire Districts #3, 8, and 10, and the City of Cheney Fire Departments converged in the County’s training facility. This is what it looked like. (Photo Above)

The West Plains Recruit Academy 2023-2 is seen in the above photo working hard towards their graduation objectives. Here in this photo, they are about 30 days out from graduation. They will have the chance through extensive training, guidance, and other hands-on practicals to gain their IFSAC HAZMAT Awareness, Operations, and FF1 Certifications, as well as important life-saving training through the American Heart Association’s CPR program.

In September of 2023, a neighboring fire agency, Spokane County Fire District #8 assisted SCFD3 as mutual aid for a trailered haystack fire on Spokane County’s Hwy 195 near Spangle, Washington.

As a firefighter, there are endless opportunities to join the ranks of assisting other agencies to deploy for wildland fire responses (above), such as this one on the West Hallett Fire.

Another large wildfire named the GRAY FIRE exploded in the account burning along with several firestorms in both western and eastern parts of the Evergreen State.

Spokane County Fire District #3 is located in the southwestern area of Spokane County, Washington State, and serves and protects the communities of Medical Lake, Marshal, Spangle, Four Lakes, and Tyler. They provide emergency medical services (EMS), fire suppression, technical rescue, and fire prevention programs. They are responsible for about 30,000 people in a 570-square-mile Fire District. They are governed by five Fire Commissioners and three Elected Officials who reside within the Fire District’s boundaries of Spokane County Fire District #3. Their Headquarters are located in Cheney.
