An SUV driver decided to take matters into their own hands by crossing all freeway lanes on I-5 in Tacoma.
This was an attempt to take an exit they almost missed. Instead of missing any other obstacles, they hit a motorcyclist on the freeway, causing the victim to be transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of a white SUV was taken into custody and arrested by the Washington State Patrol for DUI Vehicular Assault.
Details of this accident and arrest were released by WSP Trooper John Dattilo on Saturday, evening at 2042 hours PDT.
This is in the area of I-5 NB at Milepost 104.32 near US 101 beginning at 1934 hours PDT. The off-ramp to NB101 is blocked and is closed until further notice.
According to research on the web, the max penalty for this type of charge can be 10 years which is considered as a Class B Felony, and fines of $20,000. This driver is in a lot of trouble. we are hoping for the best for the person who hit the motorcyclist.
