CANYON CREST FIRE
INCIDENT SUMMARY

Location
A brush fire broke out before 1730 hours and the first arriving San Bernardino County FD’s Battalion Chief 121 reported a 100′ x 100′ spot fire running uphill and wind-driven. They immediately assumed command and designated Fire Command as “Canyon Crest” IC.
The fire is burning in the area of Canyon Crest Drive and Weeping Willow Lane in Fontana (San Bernardino County), California.
SIZE UP
The size of the fire is approximately at 10-plus acres.
OPERATIONS
Second Alarm Response Requested
At that time, the IC requested a second alarm fire response.
Third Alarm Response Requested
A third alarm fire response was requested around 1821 hours PT. At this time, San Bernardino County Fire was going into Unified Command with CAL FIRE RRU Battalion 4, but CAL FIRE would assume Command at 1928 hours PT.
Evacuation Warnings Go Into Effect
Just after 1930 hours PT, evacuation warnings were issued and went into effect for the following areas:
Riverside County
- NORTH: of 60 Fwy
- EAST: of Country Village Rd
- SOUTH: of Riverside/San Bernardino County Line
- WEST: of Sierra Avenue
RESOURCES
Resources include as of 1928 hours PT, an order placed for an additional 10 Type 3 engines, four water tenders, and two overhead team personnel.
Additional resources were dispatched via the San Bernardino Communications Center at 1856 hours PT, which includes E8838 per the wildcad.net site.
