Published Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024, 2045 hours PT
Mason County, Washington — Mason County PUD Officials say thieves broke into the secured power vault and stole all of the copper, causing a major power outage inside of the County. Officials note that the thieves are lucky to be alive and not seriously injured.

Linemen have found the damaged equipment and are estimating that it will be around 0100 hours tomorrow morning before power can be restored. This is due to the type of heavy-duty cable and connections.
Officials were very apologetic in how they knew this was an inconvenience, especially on a Thanksgiving holiday.

They also apologized for how those along Haven and Wooten Lake will likely endure an additional short outage to switch things back to normal operations. For others, there are 42 customers that are also without power along Tahuya Blacksmith Road, Blacksmith Lake and Munson Blvd. They will remain without power until the problem can be located and fixed.
The outages began this afternoon when Officials released information on their Social Media platforms around 1423 hours today.
