INCIDENT SUMMARY
A wildfire named the GARNET FIRE south of Rodggers Rdige in the Garnet Dike and north of the Kings River trailhead in the Sierra National Forest and about three miles southeast of Balch Camp in Fresno County, California.
It is said to be burning in the 2015 ROUGH FIRE and 2024 BASIN FIRE burn scars.
Fire Officials believe this incident may have been potentially the result of a lightning fire, which appears to have ignited earlier on the morning of August 24, 2025 (0010) PDT.
RESOURCES
AT this time, there are 368 total personnel along with nine crews, 10 engines and eight helos.
CURRENT STATUS
According to the USFS, the fire has burned through 12,378 acres and picked up some increased fire behavior today, which formed a large pyrocumulus cloud, as you can see in the photo in this update. About 3,000 acres have spread to the north.
There is a 0% containment status.
Fire behavior has been observed as active with wind-driven runs, spotting and backing.
Firefighters are prepping for structure protection, as there are concerns about structures and energy infrastructure that may be at risk should the fire reach nearby communities.
