A fire broke out in the SODO Commercial / Industrial part of Seattle on Monday, May 7th  that appears to have started on the exterior side of the building.  Firefighters quickly responded with the its initial full response being upgraded to a 2nd alarm. 

The call came in at 1122 hours through 9-1-1.  Engine 36 was the first on scene with heavy flames and smoke coming from the two-story metal building with exposures.  A second building was filled with heavy smoke with a third with minimal smoke damage.  It was reported that it took a full hour to bring the flames and smoke under control and extinguished.  The fire was put out on Tuesday, May 8th.

There were no injuries reported.

The cause was due to an overheated extension cord caused the fire.  A band had been practicing earlier in the morning in one of the buildings.

Damage was estimated at $100,000 to the structure, $25,000 to the contents, $160,000 to the exposed buildings with a total loss of $285,000.00.
