June 19— A Seattle Fire Department Fire Investigator determined today’s morning fire inside s South Park manufacturing facility was an accidental fire. The cause of the fire was pinpointed to an exhaust vent for the manufacturing floor.

The first fire call came in at 9:36 a.m. of reports of a fire on the roof of a one-story commercial building located in the 500 block of South Monroe Street. The caller indicated the fire had spread from the roof to the walls.
Units called to the scene were:
0937 Hours – Aid 5, Air 9, Battalions 22 & 7, Deputy 1, Engines 11, 26, 27, 36, 37, Ladders 11 & 13, Medic 28, Safety 2, Staff 10.
0941 Hours – Engine 8 & Ladder 6.
0944 Hours – PIO.
1000 Hours – Engine 26.
1001 Hours – Marshal 5 (Fire Investigator).
South Park Engine Company 26 could see the smoke and flames from several blocks away. When the firefighters arrived, all of the building’s occupants had evacuated safely outside the building. The West Seattle Ladder Company 13 ran a ladder to the roof to fight the fire on the roof while Engines 26 and 11’s Firefighters fought the flames inside the building.

Within 12 minutes, firefighters knocked down the flames inside the building. It took approximately 20 minutes to extinguish the flames on the roof.

Our fire investigator estimated the dollar loss at one-million dollars to the structure and the contents.
