LOS ANGELES REGION – As you noticed, the Los Angeles region is experiencing some monsoonal moisture. Temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler, and the relative humidity to increase. As the atmosphere moistens, there is a chance of thundershowers this afternoon for northern areas and tonight everywhere.
Due to the current changes in weather, the Emergency Management Department for the City of Los Angeles has determined that extended operating hours of Cooling Centers are no longer needed. Cooling Centers, providing public with relief from the heat, will return to regular business hours as of today.
Although a heat warning is no longer in effect, afternoon temperatures will still be very warm, therefore, we encourage all to exercise caution in the heat.
The Los Angeles Fire Department would also like to take this opportunity to urge persons planning on outdoor activities to closely monitor the weather and be prepared to take shelter at the first sign of threatening weather. When lightning strikes, the safest places to be are in a substantial building or hard-topped metal vehicle.
