FOSTER CREEK FIRE UPDATE – 8:00 A.M

BRIDGEPORT – Yesterdays operations were successful. Crews were able to get a line established around the entire fire, and to extinguish heat within the fireline. At this time operations managers are calling the Foster Creek Fire 100% contained and 100% controlled. The Department of Natural Resources Type 3 Incident Management Team that has been assigned to this fire will be demobilizing today, and the camp that was established at the Bridgeport High School is being taken down.
After today local fire managers from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will take over the management and patrol of this fire. Future questions regarding the Foster Creek Fire should be directed to the Central Washington Interagency Communications Center (SWICC) at (509) 884-3473.

DNR’s Wildfire Mission
Administered by Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark, DNR is responsible for preventing and fighting wildfires on 12.7 million acres of private, state and tribal-owned forestlands. DNR is the state’s largest on-call fire department, with over 1,000 employees trained and available to be dispatched to fires as needed. During fire season, this includes over 700 DNR employees who have other permanent jobs with the agency and about 375 seasonal workers. Additionally, Department of Corrections adult offenders and Department of Social and Health Services-Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration juvenile offenders participate in the DNR correctional camps program. DNR also participates in Washington’s coordinated interagency approach to firefighting.
