Incident Overview
The West Side Complex is a group of eight wildfires started by lightning around noon on Saturday, July 21. The fires are all located in pinyon-juniper and cheatgrass fuel types west of Jump Up Divide on the Kaibab Plateau, on the north side of Grand Canyon.
The Kaibab National Forest is managing the entire complex for suppression. Multiple air and ground resources are currently on scene with more resources on order and en route.
The largest of the fires is 1,100 acres, located within a mile of Kanab Creek Wilderness, near Little Spring Canyon. The next largest fires are 200 acres, 100 acres, and 15 acres, respectively.
Four of the fires are less than a quarter-acre each.
