Rex Hughes, owner of Hughes Fire Equipment, Inc., an authorized sales and service center for Pierce, has been instrumental in responding to the needs of the fire service and implementing this program to provide a lower cost, standardized piece of equipment for purchase by FireRescue GPO members. Departments can now drastically reduce the time and cost associated with the fire apparatus purchase by using this contract to meet their bid requirements.
Hughes has delivered hundreds of firefighting apparatus to over 230 emergency service organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest, while priding themselves on superior quality and reliability. The FireRescue GPO contract will allow them to achieve their goal to provide the lowest apparatus “lifetime cost” to their customers with the Pierce label and superior customer service.
Fire Rescue-GPO is the sole purchasing organization for the nation’s fire industry committed to providing discounted competitively bid and negotiated contract options for its members through volume purchasing. Founded in 2001 by the Western Fire Chiefs Association, Fire Rescue GPO now counts over 3,500 fire departments as its members and is partnered with the IAFC and all seven Divisions, sharing a portion of the revenue with the fire service.
