MOSS POINT, Mississippi — One woman died and Moss Point emergency responders rescued another in an early-morning house fire at 4425 Palmetto Drive, according to Jackson County Emergency Services director Earl Etheridge and new Moss Point Fire Chief Tommy Posey.
The call came in at 12:03 a.m. today and Posey said firefighters faced a “fully involved house fire” when they arrived on the scene.
Firefighters entered the house, found a woman in a bed and took her out of the burning structure. She was resuscitated after CPR treatments, then taken by ambulance to Singing River Hospital.
She was later airlifted to the University of South Alabama Medical Center burn unit in Mobile.
Posey said the woman was in serious but stable condition with burns on 50 percent of her body.
