It’s been a busy and mostly too hot for anything, let alone firefighting so we must do everything we can to be pro-active about fire prevention.  Here is a list of Fires burning across the State of California.

ACTIVE FIRES

Big Creek Fire:  near Groveland, outside of Yosemite National Park can be seen from Highway 120 — 35% contained.

Buck Fire:  off Alderpoint Road & Wallan Road near Garberville in Humboldt County — Start 7/28/15 0930 PDT — CAL FIRE Humboldt-Del Norte Unit — 16 acres —- 85% Containment.

Cabin Fire:  Golden Trout Wilderness on the Western Divide Ranger District in Sequoia NF — Started 7/18/15 1500 by Lightning — 1900 acres — 150 personnel — Type 1 IMT to arrive 7/31/15 — Unknown Containment %.

China Fire:  China Gulch, Happy Vally, located SW of Redding — CALFire – Shasta/Trinity is the Administrative unit — Started 7/29/195 1755 PDT — 2 fires with total of 212 acres — 75 % containment — 2 Structures destroyed with 2 strucutres, 1 outbuildings damaged —  Evacuations –> Treat Ave, Fuzzy Lane, Flower Lane,  along roads between Treat Ave & Flower Lane, roads West of Happy Valley Road — Red Cross Shelter —> Anderson High School — Rd Closures –> Happy Valley Rd @ Camp Road, Olinda Road @Happy Valley Rd —- 2 minor injuries — Cause is under investigation — 12 Fire personnel, 20 Fire Engines, 3 Fire Crews, 2 helicopters, 1 dozer, 5 Water tenders — Fires are aggressively fighting active fire.

Cutca Fire:  Palomar Mountain — Start 7/24/15 at 1600 hours — Cause is unknown — 260 personnel — 167 acres — 75% containment.

Lowell Fire:  Start 7/25/15 1720 Hours in the Steep Hollow drainage, W of Alta in the Nevada/Placer Counties — 2303 acres — 70% contained — 54 structures are threatened in both counties — 6 injuries with firefighters stating their going to be okay/recovering well —- 178 personnel, 149 Fire engines, 47 Fire crews, 5 Air Tankers, 7 Copters, 11 dozers and 26 Water Tenders.

Mallard Fire:  Off of Mallard Way in Milville in the Shasta-Trinity NF — Started 7/29/15 at 1744 PDT — 75 acres — 1 structure destroyed via structure fire into wildland —2 injuries — 40 personnel, 4 Fire engines, 1 Fire crew and 4 Water tenders.

Mendocino Lightning Fires:  In  Willitts and Brocktails communities in Mendocino County —  Started on 7/30/15 at 1336 Hours PDT —  CALFire – Mendocino Unit is the Administrative Unit. — 2 fires with total 27 acres. — 80% contained.

Queen Fire:  off Hwy 169 & McKinnon Hill Rd, 5 miles southeast of Pecwan in Humboldt County — Start 7/25/15 at 1404 Hours — 158 acres — 85% contained.

Rocky Fire:  near Morgan Valley Road and Rocky Creek Road, east of Lower Lake  in Lake County. —- Started 7/29/15 at 1529 PDT — CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit is the Administrative Unit — 10,200 acres — very active fire —- 918 Fire Personnel, 119 Fire engines, 26 Fire crews ,8 Airtankers, 24 Dozers, 12 Water Tenders — 5% contained — Evacuations —> Mandatory / Morgan Valley Rd, both sides of the road to Knoxville Rd, Dam Rd, Mustang Court, Boham Rd, Ouarterhorse, Sleepy Hollow, Jerusalem Grade Road, Spruce Grove Rd (north), Noble Ranch Rd and Cantwell Ranch Rd. — Evacuation Shelter –> Middletown HS, 20932 Big Canyon Rd, Middletown. — Animal Evacuation Shelter –> animal evacuation center is opened at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot, 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway, Lower Lake.  — Road Closures —> All mandatory evacuated (listed above) roads and Morgan Valley Road at Hwy 53.

Swedes Fire:  Swedes Flat Road,  3 miles north of Bangor  in Butte County with CALFire Butte Unit as IC —  Started 7/29/15 1125 PDT — 400 acres — 60% contained — 2 Homes and 14 outbuildings destroyed.

Willow Fire:  NE of North Fork, CA on July 25, 2015, around 1430 Hours due to being human-caused — 1900 personnel, 132 fire engines, 44 hand crews, 18 dozers, 33 water tenders, 9 copters, 4 available tankers upon request and 1 VLAT — 3383 acres — 30% contained.

Wragg Fire:  Off of Hwy 128 near Greaves Rd, Lake Berryessa in Napa and Solano Counties — Started 7/22/15 1424 PDT — 7900 acres — 85% contained — 2 outbuildings destroyed, 3 outbuildings & 1 home damaged — 1444 personnel, 95 Fire engines, 36 crews, 7 copters, 25 Dozers, 21 Water Tenders, 6 IMT personnel.

CONTAINED FIRES

Vasco Fire:  Vasco Rd, 3 miles southwest of Byron in Contra Costa County — Start 7/30/15 1118 PDT — Contained 7/30/15 1600 PDT — 195 acres.
