A 2-alarm wildfire is currently burning in the 1800 block of Canyon Road in the Grandview (Yakima County), Washington which ignited earlier this evening.

The fire is located just south of town, where residential structures are currently threatened.

It has jumped the river which is now burning on both sides.

Incident Cooperators include those from Yakima County Fire District #5, Upper Valley, Yakima PD, City of Yakima FD, City of Yakima, Toppenish PD, Selah FD, Sunnyside PD, Sunnyside FD, Union Gap PD, Selah PD, Naches FD, Nile-Cliffdell Fire & Rescue District #14, West Valley Fire-Rescue, Suncomm 911 Communications, Yakima Scan, Yakima Training Center, Wapato PD, Granger PD, West Benton FD, and the Grandview PD.

Level 2 Evacuations are in effect for those located at:

  • The intersection of Byron Hill Rd x SR22, heading north to the Yakima/Benton County line.
  • From Bryon Hill Road and Byron Road, heading east to the Yakima/Benton County line.
  • From the Yakima/Benton County line and SR 22 to the intersection of Byron Hill Road and SR 22.

We have reached out to the Yakima County Emergency Management Agency to find out what the name of Fire Command or the designated name for this wildfire is.

Currently, this incident has not been reported to the wildCAD (DNR’s CAD system) quite yet and this is not showing as a State Mobe approved fire as of yet.
