0400: According to the Arlington/Stanwood Firefighters IAFF Local 3438 fire update: “All resources have been pulled off the front line due to erratic fire behavior and the inability to get an overhead view of fire conditions.
A unified command center will continue to work cooperatively to update fire conditions and notify the community of any changes.”
Resources assigned to this incident are:
- Snohomish County Fire Districts 19, 21, and 22.
- North County Fire/EMS
- Darrington Fire District #24
- Oso Fire Department
- Sky Valley Fire
- Everett Fire Department
- WA DNR
- Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue
At 2322 hours, firefighters were Local, State and Federal Resources experiencing crowning in trees and erratic fire behavior. There were no expected evacuation orders scheduled to be issued at this time, but area residents were somewhat on the edge as they voiced their concerns on the FD’s Facebook page overnight.
At 2216 hours, Snohomish County Fire District #22 released a fire update, “
Getchell Firefighters are on the scene of a Brush fire located within the Jim Creek Navy Base just East of Arlington Height. The first 911 call came in about 5:40pm and it didn’t take long for Arlington Rural first arriving units to request additional resources from throughout Snohomish County as well as the Washington State Department Of Natural Resources, and Navy Federal Firefighters from Everett and Whidbey Island.
It is reported that the fire is still growing with no containment reported. The only structures threatened at this time are military buildings and infrastructure.”

2145: New Incident. 3rd Alarm brush fire. 21000 block of Jim Creek Road, Arlington (Snohomish County), WA. The fire name given is the unofficial fire name as it is not showing on wildCAD.net nor is the PIO (Facebook) able to state what the fire name is. The fire has been reported as on Wheeler Mtn, on the road leading up to the Lake on Base property. A thermal column was reported visible by arriving units. This is the Jim Creek Navy Community Rec area for active Navy servicemembers.
