Orondo Firefighters responded at 1815 hours on Saturday, June 3, 2023, to a wildfire one mile north of Orondo (Douglas County), Washington State, and were first due on the scene with a wildfire with extreme fire behavior with uphill runs. Throughout the night, crews worked to slow the forward progression. It moved through the Orondo Fire District into the Waterville Fire District. The fire was said to last at 70 acres.

The 141 Fire, the District’s second fire around the same time occurred quickly escalated to a second-alarm fire response. The cause is under investigation. Hot spots are still being extinguished. The number of acreages burned or the containment percentage on both fires is unknown at this time.


Fire Resources: Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, WA DNR, BLM, and the USFS with 74 firefighters.


Update 1 | Saturday | June 3, 2023

At 2049 hours, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported the fire was burning on the hillside above Zano Loop Road, which according to our mapping is not too far from this location, if not near it.

A Level 1 evacuation notification was issued to those who are east of Fisher Lane near the crest to the plateau at 2044 PDT.
