A wildfire is burning near Spice Lake within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in the Superior National Forest, east of Knife and Kekekabic Lakes and southwest of Seagull Lake. It is said to be about 10 miles west of the Gunflint Trail in Lake County in the State of Minnesota.

The wildfire was detected on the afternoon on June 13, 2023. The cause is unknown at this time and is under investigation.

It is burning in mixed Boreal forests with aspen, pine, and balsam fire tree species.

Resources include a 19-person Forest Hotshot crew, along with a helicopter and other aircraft. USDA firefighters.

The fire is currently 20-30 acres in size and has a 30% containment status.
