NEW: July 25, 2023, Tuesday, 1800 hours PT

INCIDENT SUMMARY: A wildfire called the WAWAWAI FIRE is burning about five miles southwest of Pullman (Whitman County), Washington State, which was reported on Monday night at 2102 hours prompting the response of resources from Whitman County Fire Districts 12 and 14. The fire had been well established in between Lower Granite Dam and Wawawai Park.

According to Officials with the Whitman County Fire District 14, District 13 was dispatched to another fire in the same area, which was determined to be the same wildfire incident. They’d battle the blaze throughout the night.

Just after 1515 hours this afternoon, the fire burned about 500 acres of range, grass, and cropland and has a 0% containment status. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation at this time.

THREATENED: Croplands, Rangeland, Infrastructure, including 911 radio towers.

RESOURCES: There are a total of 35 personnel with more en route if not already on the scene from the State Mobilization approval through the WSP Fire Marshal’s Office coming through this morning at 0145 hours PT. The American Red Cross is monitoring the situation as Level 1 evacuations are issued by the Sheriff’s Office.
