SIT REP 2: Sunday, August 20, 2023, 1300 hours PDT
CANADA
The K52125 Incident also known as the CRATER CREEK FIRE is burning about 18 km or 11 miles southwest of Keremeos in Canada, which has crossed over the U.S. border.
The wildfire ignited on July 22, 2023, around 1500 hours PDT.

Structure protection was put into place on August 19, 2023, and conducted patrols along the fire edge from the Red Bridge to Paul’s Creek.
Overnight growth occurred on the West Flank with minimal growth on the North and East Flanks.
Portions of the fire had spread into where another wildfire burned in 2018.
The fire has burned about 41,000 hectares, which equals 101,303 acres in Canada.

The suspected cause is lightning.
Evacuation orders were issued by the Upper Simikameen Indian Band, Lower Simikameen Indian Band, and the Regional District

The wildfire originally sparked by lightning in Canada, crossed over our border into the United States on August 18, 2023, and is burning about 15 miles west of Oroville between Snowshoe Mountain and Hurley Peak and near Colville in Okanogan County, Washington State.
A Type 3 IMT, the Northeast Washington Interagency IMT assumed command of this fire at 0600 hours this morning.
U.S. Firefighters were dispatched on August 18, 2023, at 1038 hours PDT.
Today, resources include BC 92, HI 30, HI 7108, HI 7104, NE 82, HI 60, C 7140.
The fire has burned 8,102 acres in the United States, There is a 0% containment status at this time.
