Monday Fire Update: August 28, 2023, 2030 hours PDT

The TIGER ISLAND FIRE was reported on Tuesday, August 22nd, and continues to burn today. The fire has burned about 33,294 acres with a 50% containment status.
It is located east of Merryville, south of Hwy 190, SW of DeRidder, and North of Singer, Louisiana.
There is a total of 180 personnel along eight copters, 10 Type-6 engines, 10 Type-2 tractor plow units, National Guard Blackhawks, and 15 dozers.
Agencies include personnel from the Louisiana State National Guard, Parish authorities, Homeland Security (Governor’s), Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Team, Beauregard Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of Emergency Preparedness.
Some of the heaviest fire fuels include residuals of Hurricane Laura in 2020 and contribute to the extreme fire behavior as observed by Fire Officials.
About 23 structures have been lost and a $1.6 Million CTD has been reached.
