Sunday Fire Update – 9/3/2023 1455 PDT
TIGER ISLAND FIRE – 15 miles SW of DeRidder, Louisiana
This wildfire started on private land which has burned about 31,342 acres of Southern rough, light slash, and chaparral. There is a 50% containment status. Moderate fire behavior with flanking, backing, and creeping has been observed.
Communities of Merryville & DeRidder are threatened, along with energy, communication, and RR infrastructure. About 54 structures have already been lost.
There is a total of 268 personnel along with one crew and 17 engines.
CTD: $5.6 Million.
Update: Cause ruled arson, 2 killed, and a $2k Arson Reward is being offered.
17 parishes in Louisiana were in a State of Emergency on August 28th as wildfires continued to burn across the state, with the Tiger Island Fire being the largest of all of them.
LIONS CAMP ROAD FIRE – 6 miles south of Anacoco, LA.
This wildfire is being managed by the LA Office of Forestry, which is seeing minimal fire behavior with creeping and is smoldering, as precip fell over the fire line yesterday.
The fire has burned about 790 acres of grass, chaparral, and southern rough. There is a 0% containment status.
This incident is currently showing 13 total personnel along with a single engine.

HWY 113 FIRE – 14 miles NW of Oakdale, LA.
The Hwy 113 Fire is also located near Tiger Island, Lions Camp Road, and the Elizabeth Fires. Fire has burned about 7,321 acres and is also like its counterparts at 50% contained. This is an unstaffed incident according to the NIFC’s update.
Fire behavior has been observed as moderate with flanking, backing, and isolated torching. Three structures have been lost.
CTD: $22,000.

ELIZABETH FIRE – 12 miles NW of Oakdale, LA.
The LA Office of Forestry is the venue for this wildfire which has burned about 943 acres of southern rough, chaparral, and light slash. It has reached a 50% containment status. Fire behavior is moderate with flanking, backing, and isolated torching.
there are about 16 total personnel along with two engines and three helicopters.
