WHO?
The Kootenai County Fire & Rescue is a fire district governed by five Fire commissioners located in Idaho (USA). They work closely with the Kootenai County EMS to provide EMS in their service area. The KCEMSS is an ambulance district that provides ambulance service countywide.
They serve a population of 45,000 residents within a 113-square-mile response area.
These are the Kootenai County Firefighters IAFF Local Union 2856.
WHAT?
The Fire Agency is currently hiring for FF/Medic, FF/AEMT, and FF/EMT. The image shows what the salaries are, plus the increases over the longer term of service.
WHERE?
Fire District has five fire stations throughout their response area, which they staff four of them seven days a week 24/7/365. They are trained in fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical, HAZMAT, and technical rescue operations.
The KCFR Joe Doellefeld Training Center (HQ and Maintenance) building is located at 5271 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls, Idaho. It is open between 0800-1700 hours, Monday through Friday.
Station 1 is located at 404 N. Idaho in Post Falls, which is a 24-hour emergency response station.
Station 2 is also a 24-hour response station which is located at 4320 W. Seltice Way in Post Falls.
Station 3 located at 3850 E. 16th Street in Post Falls, Idaho is their third 24-hour response station.
Station 4 is located at 17123 Golf Course Road in Coeur d’Alene and is the fourth fully staffed station.
Station 8 is a joint station with the Eastside Fire Department which is located at 20338 S. Hwy 97 in Harrison (Arrow Point), Idaho.
HIGHLIGHTS
There was a 2022 Bond Approved and there are several construction projects in the works:
HQ/Training Campus
In 2023, several projects have been approved, either started, not started, or are in progress.
On April 1, 2023, not intended to be an April Fool’s joke was supposed to have construction worked on Station 5, but appears it has not even started. We are hoping it gets started soon for them.
On April 10, 2023, a project to have an Outdoor Classroom was started and has an estimated project end date of August 11, 2023, but the Fire District’s website shows that it is still in progress.
According to the Fire District, two projects for their Burn Building and Logistics Warehouse have now been completed.
Station 4
Station 4’s project was started back on May 24, 2023, and is currently in the design and permitting stage. Its completion date has been slated for May 21, 2024.
Station 5
Station 5’s project also started on May (16th), 2023, and is in the design and permitting stage. It is been scheduled to be completed by May 16, 2024.

The District is growing and so are the ranks where firefighters are being hired with a vast array of skills, knowledge, and experience.
In September of 2023, there were/are 16 positions that are currently open, which gives many the best opportunity to hire.
WHEN?
Go to the Fire District’s website: http://www.kootenaifire.com and apply. There are 16 positions opened and this is for the first half of 2024, so this is the best time to become one of their members. Don’t wait to long as this announcement closes on November 6, 2023.
