December 31, 2023, 1717 PST

A fire that is believed to have started as a rubbish fire extended to a scaffolding sending flames and smoke up multiple floors in two buildings in the 880 and 890 blocks of Schenck Avenue in Brooklyn, New York (USA).

Other reports of possible fireworks to ring out the new year may be the ignition source but it will be awhile until Fire Investigators can gain access to the fire building – unless they already know. We have not heard from Fire Officials, the preliminary of tonight’s major fire.

Firefighters have been on the scene for one hour and nineteen minutes at 1741 hours PST.

NYCEM is reminding folks to close their windows due to heavy smoke may be lingering in the air for a while and this will help those with health issues to stay safe and out of harm’s way.

There are no known injuries to civilians or first responders at this time.

Primary and secondary searches are ongoing inside the fire building, according to Fire Officials.
