Firefighters from Sedro Woolley, Concrete Fire, Darrington, Clearlake, and Rockport/Marblemount responded yesterday morning to a house fire located in the 15000 Block of Salmon Lane on SR 530 near Park Lane at MP 62 in Concrete (Skagit County), Washington State.

First responders were met with challenging and dangerous fire conditions as exploding propane tanks began occurring escalating the fire response. Exposures were also being threatened by the intensity of the flames lapping at them.

The fire began spreading to area trees, requesting a response from WA DNR to help now with an impending wildfire.

The WSDOT was requested to shut down the highway.

Today, the Mount Vernon Police Department released an official Fatality Fire Investigation presser regarding this Friday Fire incident.

According to the Police Department, “On August 9th, at approximately 1024 hours PT, deputies from the skagit County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a reported fire (at the given address) of a two-story home which was destroyed by the blaze and the location of several bodies inside of the home after it was put out.”

During the investigation, it was determined to be a non-law enforcement contract employee of Skagit County and due to the connection, it was requested that the Mount Vernon Police Department conduct the investigation. Several victims were located by firefighters and Officials say it may take a few days for the recovery process to be completed due to the structure collapsing during fire operations.

The MVPD Detectives are also partnering with the ATF, Washington State Patrol, and the Skagit County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Skagit County Coroner’s Office is in the process of notifying the next of kin. (NOTE: WE will not post the names of the victims out of respect for their family/ies.
