The EATON FIRE started from an unknown cause on January 7, 2025, at 1818 hours PT, several hours after the PALISADES FIRE (see our previous post about this separate wildfire incident). It is located near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive in Altadena/Pasadena, California.

The Command is in Unified Command with Los Angeles County FD, Pasadena Fire, and the U.S. Forest Service. Managing the fire incident is under the CAL FIRE IMT 3 and CAIIMT 5.

Though this has a much smaller footprint, it has been much more damaging than the PALISADES FIRE with 1,062 damaged and 9,366 destroyed structures that have resulted in 17 deaths and eight (8) injuries. As of today’s date, they have half the number of resources as the Palisades Fire with the double number of structures lost and damaged than the other incident.

At the time of this post, there have been a total of 14,021 acres, and is now 81% contained.

The cost-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts has reached a total of 68.2 Million Dollars.
