OAKDALE FIRE | JULY 2025

July 4, 2025, Thursday, 1200 hours PDT


The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office released an official statement at 1130 hours this morning, in that they were granted access to the fire scene at the Oakdale Fire during a coordinated recovery operation. Upon entering the scene, human remains were located. No positive ID has been made out of respect for the family and next of kin notification.

The Esparto Fire Protection District has requested the ATF and bomb investigators from CAL FIRE – Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Office (OSFM) to lead the origin and cause of the fire investigation.

The Yolo County Government is offering behavioral health and grief support services to those impacted by this incident. can call the Yolo County Health and Human Services agency at 530-661-2750 or dial 2-1-1 for 24-hour access to local resources.

NON-EMERGENCY needs or to share info related to the incident, residents may contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 530-666-8282. For questions about recovery or identification, including the Coroner’s Office, may call Lt. Don Harman at 530-312-5640.

YOLO COUNTY — Firefighters with the CAL FIRE LNU are assisting Yolo County firefighters who are at the scene of a commercial structure fire in brush near Hwy 16 and Oakdale Ranch Lane and on County Roads 23 and 86A in Esparto, California. (USA).

Yolo County is asking residents and folks to evacuate the area towards I-505.

It has been reported by several verified sources that this was a commercial structure fire from an unknown cause, but social media has been posting footage showing multiple large fireworks exploding behind the large columns of heavy black smoke. Fire Officials are investigating the cause of the fire inside the fireworks manufacturing plant.

The fire broke out just after 1800 hours PDT this evening.

There have been approximately 78 total acres burned, and the containment status is 0%. Firefighters are still fighting the commercial structure fire as well.

The Incident is in Unified Command with the Esparto Fire Protection District and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office states that a warehouse storing fireworks exploded for an unknown cause.

It is said to be still burning and is telling folks to AVOID THE AREA.
