JULY 4, 2025 – FRIDAY
1435 PT — A wildfire named the BEAR CREEK FIRE started on July 3, 2025, from an unknown cause. It is burning about 11 miles west of Lolo, Montana, in mostly timber.
However, the MT DNRC states there were multiple lightning strikes that occurred just a day before, sparking multiple wildfires, and they need to be careful on the 4th of July.
Today’s morning fire update released by the U.S. Forest Service – Lolo National Forest states the fire has now been more accurately mapped out with about 30-40 acres burned.
Resources include one (1) hot shot crew, two (2) engines, one (1) module, and overhead personnel.
A dozer and fire suppression aviation assets are on order.
Another wildfire has ignited about 1.5 miles north of the Bear Creek Fire in the Telephone Butte area is at an estimated 0.25 acres.
