INCIDENT SUMMARY

The BURDOIN FIRE is located about five (5) miles west of Lyle (Klickitat County) along the Columbia River and north of Hwy 14, near White Salmon and Bingen, Washington State (USA).

CURRENT STATUS

SIZE UP: The fire burned about 1,900 acres of grass, brush, and timber earlier this afternoon/evening (Saturday) until the winds picked up the fire and dragged it across the steep and difficult terrain, turning it into a firestorm and increasing the acreage to a whopping 6,506 acres! There is a 0% containment status.

FIRE BEHAVIOR: Fire behavior has been observed as active with running, single tree torching, and spotting.

STATE MOBE DEPLOYED: Multiple Fire agencies, personnel, and equipment have been deployed from Snohomish County, Whatcom County, and from throughout the State to respond to this fire.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT: As of this update, there have been 37 primary structures and 50 minor structures damaged. There are 14 primary structures and 30 minor structures which been destroyed. At this time, 250 structures are still being threatened.

AMERICAN RED CROSS: Staffing shelters and taking care of evacuees.

KLICKITAT PUD: Responded on Friday to a power outage and a damaged pole.

WASHINGTON STATE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION: (Camp Murray). At 1637 PDT on Friday afternoon, the SW WA IMT stated that the SE Team 2 was on order.

EDUCATION: Lyle School District.

STATE MOBE RESOURCES

Aberdeen Fire Department: This will be another State Mobe deployment, along with many other Fire Agencies.

Arlington/Stanwood Firefighters IAFF Local 3438: The Fire Agency sent two teams. NW Team 1: Strike Team Lead (t) K. Johnson and NW Team 2: Brush 46 with Gilman, Officer and Sato, and Thuringer.

Klickitat County EMA: EVACUATIONS IN EFFECT. Two (2) shelters have been opened. COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL, C Court Building, 1455 NW Bruin County Rd, White Salmon, WA 98687. This shelter can be accessed from NW Simmons Rd. Follow the RED CROSS Signage to the rear of the property. THE DALLES MIDDLE SCHOOL, 1100 E 12th St, The Dalles, OR 97058.

Snohomish County Fire District #5: Brush 51 has been deployed with Lt. Gwilt, FF/EMT Perkins, and FF/EMT Araujo.

Snohomish County Fire District #14:

S.E. Thurston Fire Authority: Brush Truck 24 with Firefighters, Fritsch and Olschewsky, part of the Central Strike Team. They were deployed on Friday night at 2115 hours PT.

SE WA IMT: Structure protection is in effect. Fire resources were able to make progress on the west side of the fire and near Bingen as well as Hwy 14. Night operations will continue well into Sunday morning. A TFR is in place. One firefighter was injured in the fire and transported to a hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time. 289 total personnel with eight (8) strike teams, 5 handcrews, 3 dozers, 39 engines, and eight (8) water tenders. Fire started on July 18, 2025, at 1429 PT. The cause is undetermined and under investigation. On order: CIMT (Team 13).
