Incident Summary

Another fire broke out in Arizona with this one being located 16 miles West of Heber, Arizona.

About 3,282 acres of timber and closed timber litter have been destroyed, but there is still active fire behavior with up hill runs and backing.

Fire crews have reached a 50% containment status.

Staffing

There is 291 personnel assigned along with 9 crews, 9 engines and 7 helicopters.

Damage Assessment

The cost-to-date has reached $2.1 Million for firefighting suppression and containment costs.

NEAR BENSON, ARIZONA

Incident Summary | Firefighters were called out to a structure fire into a wildland interface on Dragoon Ranch Road in St. David, Arizona on May 30th around 1530 hours.

The fire is located 15 miles SE of Benson and burning approximately 150 acres of grasses and brush under the AZ DOF and Fire Management.    Though the cause is considered unknown, it is possibly related to the lightning that passed over earlier in the day.

Resources | There are 50 personnel assigned.  UPDATE! Units are starting to get released from this fire (2140 PDT)

Fire Conditions | Forward progression has been stopped.   0% containment.  1 home  destroyed.  No injuries reported.

Evacuations | 12 homes were evacuated in the Dragoon Ranch Estates community to a shelter in St. David.

TONTO NATIONAL FOREST, ARIZONA

Incident Summary 

A wildfire started by lightning on May 8, 2017, around 1515 hours on the Tonto National Forest, about 6 miles South of Globe, Arizona.

This is a lightning-caused wildfire.

Current Fire Conditions

Fire behavior is extreme, uphill runs, torching and backing.  Terrain is very rugged and steep.

Firefighters have been able to gain a 70% containment around the fire.

There has been 7,171 acres destroyed.

There are 610 personnel assigned to this incident.  A new Type 3 IMT will take command on 6/2/2017 around 0600 hours.

TONTO NATIONAL FOREST, ARIZONA

Incident Summary 

A wildfire started by lightning on May 8, 2017, has not seen any type of fire since 1952!  So, as you can imagine there is a lot of heavy fire fuel to burn.  Generally speaking, this area sees fire every 2-17 years, says the Forest Service.

The fire is located approximately 6 miles South of Globe Arizona and burning on the Tonto National Forest.  It has destroyed 4,375 acres and is at a 21% containment level.

Firefighters are having to conduct suppression and containment techniques in rugged and steep terrain.

Current Fire Conditions

The current fire behavior is being considered as moderate, flanking, backing with short-range spotting and single tree torching.

There are currently 383 personnel assigned to this incident, some from the Gila County Emergency Management, Red Cross and the U.S. Forest Service.
