The Elk Fire is located 4 miles South of Buttonwillow in Kern County, California that started from an unknown cause at 1855 hours PDT on Friday evening.

Due to limited details, the wildfire is currently at 60 acres with a 0% containment status.

ELK FIRE.  Off of Elk Mountain Road and Mount Dinger Road north of Upper Lake. Start 9/2/15 @ 1457 PDT.  Cause under investigation.  IC:  CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit / Mendocino National Forest.  670 Acres.  40% Contained. Incident Cooperators:  CALFIRE, USFS, North Shore Fire District, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and CHP. 270 Personnel.  26 Fire Engines.  18 Fire Crews. 4 Helicopters. 3 Dozers.  4 Water Tenders.

GASQUET COMPLEX.  Multiple Ignited Lightning Fires Within The Gasquet Ranger District.  694 Acres.  28,614 Acres. 45%
