LAKE WENATCHEE, Washington — Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue received an early Christmas present, a new Chevy 2500 truck, which was in service as of Friday night. The truck replaces the old BC91 Suburban, which will remain in service as a backup rescue unit that is currently stationed at Station 94 in the Ponderosa area.

The new truck was purchased with a combination of tax dollars and a grant from the WA DNR, fire agency.

About Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue

The LWFR was formed in March of 2015, after the merger of Chelan County Fire Districts #4 and #9, with Chelan County FD #1 providing admin services and Cascade Ambulance providing ambulance transport services.

Call volumes for 2020, were 389 annual calls. No information is listed on their website for 2021 but it appears over the years, the call volume has been steadily increasing with 297 calls in 2019.

The department has two stations, 93 at 21696 Lake Wenatchee Hwy and at 21300 Cayuse Street, both in Leavenworth, Washington.

Great accomplishments by this fire agency, include a newly created Seasonal Firefighter Progam, as an effort to help educate the community, on ways to reduce heavy fire fuel loads within their service area(s).

On June 1st of 2020, after 40 years of their former Fire Chief Mick Lamar who retired, the agency installed a new Fire Chief David Walker who was their former Assistant Fire Chief.
