The Wildfire Log | Region 1 Severity Fire | NC | 1

NORTH CAROLINA |  A wildfire, named the Region 1 Severity Fire is burning four miles northwest of Kinston (Lenoir County) and 67 miles ESE of Raleigh, North Carolina.  It is  on lands managed by the NC Forest Service.

There has been 347 acres of southern rough that have been destroyed but fire crews have reached an 35% containment status.

ALERT | Burn bans have been issued for 18 eastern North Carolina counties due to hazardous forest fire conditions.  –

Fire behavior is active with some smoldering.

There are approximately 26 engines and one helicopter assigned to this incident along with 81 fire personnel.

FIRE FACT | There were 7 wildfires burning on private and NC owned lands for a total of 25.1 acres, as of Sunday, June 2, 2019.

The total costs-to-date for fire suppression and containment efforts have reached $286,000.

NEW Fire: Party Rock | NC | Update 1

Updated 11:00 PM PST

The Party Rock Fire is located at Chimney Rock State Park and 1 mile North of Lake Lure in North Carolina. The fire started on November 5th at 1:00 PM from an unknown cause.

The fire has consumed 977 acres of hardwood litter.

Fire crews have successfully reached a 15% containment status but still are providing structure protection, burnout operations and contingent planning.

There are 142 personnel assigned to this incident.

No injuries have been reported.
