August 7—A Seattle Fire Investigator determined an August 7th fire at the Georgetown Playfield was intentionally set.

At 2:16 a.m., the Fire Alarm Center received multiple 911 calls reporting flames coming from a park at the corner of S. Findlay Street and 7th Avenue South in the Georgetown neighborhood. When Engine Company 27 arrived, they found a full-involved picnic shelter and extinguished the flames.

A Seattle Fire Investigator determined available combustible materials were ignited causing a picnic table fire to extend to the wooden roof and trusses. The damage estimate was $20,000.

The Seattle Police Department Arson Bomb Squad is investigating.
