FIRES on Oregon Dept. of Forestry-PROTECTED LANDS

The lightning-caused Cache Creek Fire burning NNE of Enterprise in Wallowa County is 73,697 acres and 90 percent contained. The Wallowa County Sheriff’s Department reopened the Lower Imnaha Road/Dug Bar Road. The public is advised to avoid the area due to the potential congestion from fire suppression traffic. The Parish Cabin Fire burning 15 miles NE of Seneca is 6,481 acres and 97 percent contained. A local Type 3 Incident Management Team is now in command and will oversee the suppression efforts through the duration of the incident. The Pole Creek Fire burning six miles southwest of Sisters is 4,583 acres and five percent contained. Higher temperatures and lower humidty are forecast for today, likely leading to intensified fire behavior. The Crossroads area outside of Sisters including the Edgington Remuda area and homes along the 16 Road are being given a Precautionary Evacuation Notification. Key personnel from the Oregon Interagency Incident Management Team 4 will present two informational briefings at the Emergency Preparedness Fair in Sisters on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Team members will provide fire updates and information at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The briefings will include current status of the fire, expected fire behavior/activity, local weather trends, current maps and operational plans. The event will be held at Sisters Elementary School.

The lightning-caused Waterfalls 2 Fire burning 25 miles west of Warm Springs on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation is 12,265 acres and 90 percent contained. The closure has been lifted for the Pacific Crest Trail, Breitenbush Lake, and the Jefferson Park recreational area. Closure remains in effect for Warm Springs Agency lands including Trout Lake.  The lightning-caused Cache Creek Fire burning NNE of Enterprise in Wallowa County is 73,697 acres and 90 percent contained. A local Type 4 Incident Management Team has command of the suppression efforts. Pockets of unburned fuels are continuing to burn inside the fire line along the southwest and west sides of the fire, producing visible columns of smoke. The Parish Cabin Fire burning 15 miles NE of Seneca in Grant County is 6,481 acres and 97 percent contained. A local Type 3 Incident Management Team is now in command and will oversee the suppression efforts through the duration of the incident. The Pole Creek Fire burning six miles southwest of Sisters is 4,336 acres and five percent contained. Crews held lines throughout the day Tuesday and kept fire spread to a minimum. Two spot fires were staffed, with air resources providing assistance to ground crews. For firefighter and public safety, an area closure remains in place around the vicinity of the fire. The closure includes Forest Service roads 15 and 16, several spur roads leading into the fire area, trailheads and the Three Creeks Campground area. The lightning-caused Cache Creek Fire burning NNE of Enterprise in Wallowa County is 73,697 acres and 90 percent contained. A local Type 3 Incident Management Team in command of suppression efforts will transfer management to a local Type 4 team today. Eastern/South Central Oregon

The Crossroads area outside of Sisters, OR including the Edgington Remuda area and homes along the 16 road are being notified of Precautionary Evacuation Notification due to the fire. Forest Service roads 16 and 15 are closed. A closure in place on Highway 242 was lifted on Sept. 10. Three Creeks Campground is also being evacuated. Eastern/Southcentral Oregon
The Parish Cabin Fire has been burning on federal lands 15 miles NE of Seneca in Grant County. It’s currently 6,481 acres and is now 95 percent contained. A local Type 3 Incident Management Team is now in command and will oversee suppression efforts through the duration of the incident. The Pole Creek Fire (USFS) reported Sept 9 burning in timber southwest of Sisters, OR is approximately 1,500 acres and as of this morning is 0 percent contained. The Crossroads area outside of Sisters, OR including Edgington Remuda area and homes along the 16 road are being nofified of Precautionary Evacuation Notification. Forest Service roads 16 and 15 are closed. Highway 242 is closed at the Trout Creek intersection on the Sisters side and at White Ranch on the McKenzie side of the highway. Three Creeks Campground is also being evacuated. A Type 2 Incident Management Team is enroute to take command of the suppression efforts this morning. The Waterfalls 2 Fire is burning 25 miles west of Warm Springs, on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. The fire has burned 12,265 acres and is 90 percent contained. Area closures have been lifted for the Pacific Crest Trail, Breitenbush Lake, and the Jefferson Park recreational area. Closure remains in effect for Warm Springs Agency lands including Trout Lake. Interior islands of unburned fuels continue to burn out and put some smoke in the air. A Type 3 Incident Management Team has command of the suppression efforts.
