Incident: Goat Wildfire
Released: 1645 Hours

Wednesday, September 26, 2012 @ 8AM

Location: Three miles southwest of Pateros, WA.

 

Size: Fire acreage is 6,912 acres.

 Cause: Human caused.

 Containment: 40% at this time.

 Land Ownership: National Forest and Private.

 Personnel: 556 personnel are assigned to the fire today.

 Equipment and Aircraft: Three dozers, 20 water tenders and 23 engines are currently assigned to the fire, as well as Two Type 1 (heavy) and two Type 3 (light) helicopters.

 Injuries: One minor back injury, treated and released.

Weather: The weather forecast calls for light winds from the southeast this morning with an inversion developing that will begin once again to trap smoke in the area. Temperatures are expected to reach 84 degrees, with a relative humidity of 19%.

 What’s New: A major operational challenge was completed Tuesday when burnout operations were completed on the northern end of the fire perimeter. Crews worked throughout the night to further secure the line. On the remainder of the fire, mop-up and structure protection continued. Level 2 evacuation areas remain unchanged.

 Crews today will be mopping up, rehabilitating fire lines, and checking outside the lines for any possible smoldering spots. The estimated date of containment is September 28th.
