Nov. 9, 2012, St. John’s, N.L. – The Newfoundland government is warning residents on the island’s west coast and Northern Peninsula to avoid coastal areas Saturday because strong winds could produce waves up to eight metres high.
Officials at Environment Canada say wind gusts from the northwest could reach up to 85 kilometres per hour. Snow squalls are also forecast for the region. Fire and Emergency Services says the big waves and pounding surf could create “extremely hazardous'” conditions. Republished: 11/10/12 1315 Hours PST Courtesy: Canadian Fire news media |
