FIREFIGHTER

The Position:
A person assigned to Firefighter classification is trained in fire suppression and emergency medical care and is engaged in the prevention, control, and extinguishment of fires and response to emergency situations where life, property or the environment is at risk. Under the general supervision of supervisory and management staff, the Firefighter responds to fire alarms and other emergency and non-emergency calls to protect life and property; provides basic life support and medical assistance; conducts fire prevention inspection and public education programs; and may be required to work out of class on a temporary basis.
