A woman is fighting for her life after driving over the off-ramp barrier from the 1st Avenue South Bridge in Seattle, Washington.

On November 2nd at approximately 10:36 p.m. SPD officers responded to a one-vehicle collision in the 100 block of South River Street.  Preliminary investigation indicates that a woman was driving her Honda Accord northbound across the 1st Avenue South Bridge.  She entered the Michigan Street off-ramp at what appears to be a high rate of speed, lost control of her car and went over the concrete barrier, landing on South River Street below.

The female driver was the sole occupant of her car.  There were no other vehicles involved in the collision.

Seattle Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening head injuries.

South River Street was completely shut down until earlier in the morning the following day, while officers and detectives conducted their on-scene investigation.

Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to were continuely actively investigating.

No current word on her condition or if the driver was impaired.
