#TongueRiverComplex Fires | Montana | Newly Reported!

NEAR LAME DEER, MONTANA | Two wildfires were ignited by lightning that struck several areas.

This Complex consists of the #Lee Creek wildfire located 30 miles South of Ashland and the #Witten Fire located 18 miles of Lame Deer, Montana.

These are burning on the lands managed by the Custer Gallatin National Forest.  Both are within Rosebud County.

These fire started on July 9th around 0830 hours.

The Lee Creek Fire is about 2,548 acres with a 95% containment status.  Fire fuels are timber, grass and brush.  Firefighters are currently mopping pu.

The Witten Fire is 28,684 acres and only has a 55% containment status.  Fire crews are addressing active fire behavior with torching with some backing inside the fire perimeter.  They are currently holding the lines along the SW flank.

There are no active evacuations in effect at this time of this posting.

There are 314 personnel assigned to this wildfire within an unknown number or type of additional resources supporting them.
