PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON —- A brush fire is burning at an auto wrecking yard in the 12900 block of 62nd Avenue East in Puyallup that prompted a large fire response from the Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.
The incident is named the 128TH COMMAND.
Resources were dispatched on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 1746 hours PT.
Units include BC61, BC72, CHF603, E60, E61, E63, E64, E65, E67, E68, E71, E72, E73, E95, FM9909, L61, L72, M61, M63, M67, PIO645.
The fire building is the South Hill Auto & Truck Wrecking Junk yard located in the 6300 block of 128th Street East in Puyallup. This business provides truck parts, scrap metal and car parts to its clients.

Some units were starting to go back into service at 2015 hours PT. Command began demobing the incident leaving one Division in place (Delta) and with some resources.
This fire is still burning an unknown number of buses and cars in the junk yard.
Fire officials are focusing on the water runoff and will be meeting up with the Department of Ecology for mitigation strategies.
Firefighters’ tireless efforts saved a nearby multiplex.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Unknown if there were any injuries to firefighters and/or citizens.
