UPDATE 2 – Thursday, April 21, 2022

The CROOKS FIRE started on Monday, April 18, 2022, around 1000 hours MT.

It is located about 10 miles south of the Prescott-Bradshaw Ranger District near Mount Union on the Prescott National Forest in Arizona.

There are 342 total fire personnel are working to suppress and contain this active wildfire. Incident Cooperators include Prescott National Forest, Yavapai County OEM, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department, and the AZ Department of Forestry.

Fire management is under the direction of the California Interagency IMT, Team 4. It has burned 2,000 acres of thick, dry, dead, and downed brush, Ponderosa Pine, and mixed conifer.

There is still a zero percent containment status.

The cause has been deemed as “undetermined” and is currently under investigation.

Resources assigned to this incident (3) Type 2 hand crews, (4) Type 1 hotshot crews, (14) engines, (5) copters, and an unknown number of miscellaneous equipment and overhead team.
