MCKINNEY FIRE — The MCKINNEY FIRE is located about 15 miles northwest of Yreka, California.
Communities, homes, and infrastructure are threatened.
It was started on Friday, July 29, 2022, at about 1415 hours.
==== SIZE UP ====
About 57,519 acres of timber, tall grass, and brush have been destroyed.
Fire behavior continues to be active with flanking, backing, and group torching.
==== INCIDENT COOPERATORS ====
There is about 1,885 total personnel along with 40 crews, 196 engines, and 10 helicopters.
UNIFIED COMMAND – CAL FIRE and Klamatha National forest.
USFS – KLAMATH NATIONAL FOREST.

PLUMAS COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE – About 60 Law Enforcement Officials are working around the clock on this fire in order to provide life-saving efforts and deter criminal activity. All evacuation orders remain in place, per the Sheriff’s Office. Cost-to-date expenses for fire suppression and containment efforts have reached $7 Million Dollars.
A private contractor assigned to the incident was working the fire when a bridge near Humbug Road within the evacuation fire zone gave out and injured the member. He was taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries.
