UPDATE 2: Published Wednesday, August 10, 2022, 0950 hours PT
The WILLIAMS LAKE FIRE is burning about 11 miles south of Cheney, Washington State near Williams Lake, which was sparked by an unknown cause on August 3, 2022.
Today, it has burned 1,868 acres and has an 80% containment status.
There are approximately a total of 187 personnel assigned to the incident.
The IMT is working with a local DNR unit to transition command over to a Type 4 IMT.
Incident Cooperators listed on this wildfire are/were:
SKAGIT COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT 3 (Mount Vernon) — SCFD3 deployed two fire apparatus and three personnel as part of the NW 1 Strike Team, which were tasked with structure protection, extinguishing hot spots, securing fire edges, and mop-up operations. Tender 312 was used at the water supply source to fill other unit apparatuses.
INSURANCE COMPANY Goes beyond the call of duty – One local resident reported their homeowner’s insurance company sent them a letter saying they were going to provide an extra benefit to their policy with no extra charge to provide fire protection due to four major wildland fires (two at Badger Lake, Malden, and Turnbull Wildlife Refuge).
These fires occurred down the road from them. When the Williams Lake Fire broke out, their insurance company sent a fire suppression team from a contracted fire agency who arrived on the scene and helped protect their home. Talk about great customer service!
STATE MOBE RESOURCES — Several members representing Seattle Fire, Shoreline Fire, Bothell Fire, and the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded as Task Force (one of many assigned to this incident) drove and tied in with one another last Wednesday, August 3, 2022. All members returned safely on Monday, August 8, 2022.
FAIRCHILD AFB FIRE DEPARTMENT — The agency was able to provide some much-needed air support for dropping retardants to assist with fire suppression efforts from the air.
SPOKANE COUNTY FIRE DISTRICT #3 — This fire agency has been acting as PIO for the incident and sending out presser releases (in this case, daily fire updates).
NORTHWEST COORDINATION CENTER.
